The Protest Meeting

On the day of the protest, 30,000 Catholics packed Convention Hall as thousands more stood outside to demonstrate their support.

The meeting was held under the auspices of the American Catholic Historical Society with Archbishop Dennis Dougherty presiding. Music was provided by the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary choir, the Catholic Girls’ High School’s choir, and the orchestras of John W. Hallahan High School and West Philadelphia Catholic Girls High School.
